New Delhi: Resilient centuries by John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103), along with an unbeaten half-century by Justin Greaves (50*), helped West Indies extend the second Test against India to the final day, despite being forced to follow on after trailing by 270 runs.
After India declared their first innings at 518/5, West Indies managed 248 in response and were compelled to follow on. In their second innings, the Caribbean side batted 118.5 overs to post 390, setting India a modest 121-run target for victory on the fifth day.
India ended the fourth day at 63/1 in their second innings, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (8) early. At stumps, KL Rahul (25*) and Sai Sudharsan (30*) were at the crease, adding 54 runs for the second wicket, leaving India just 58 runs shy of a series-clinching win with nine wickets in hand.
West Indies’ innings featured key partnerships: Campbell and Hope added 177 runs for the third wicket, Hope and captain Roston Chase (40) contributed 59 for the fourth, while Greaves and Jaden Seales (16) added 79 for the tenth wicket. Greaves scored his maiden Test fifty in the innings.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah (3/44) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/104) were the most successful bowlers, supported by Mohammed Siraj (2/43), Ravindra Jadeja (1/102), and Washington Sundar (1/80). Bumrah also accounted for Seales, whose dismissal helped wrap up the West Indies innings.
Despite being on the brink of losing the series, West Indies’ fightback to drag the match into the final day marks a psychological victory, showcasing resilience and determination against a dominant Indian side.
